Overview
This pixel protocol is adopted by many pixel manufacturers, and uses the standard DMX512 protocol as a single serial line to drive pixel chips.
Note: This protocol refers to a non-differential, single wire, DMX512 pixel chip. There are DMX512 protocols that use two data lines for differential transmission, which are also supported - see the protocol DMX512-D for more information.
DMX Addressing
Unlike standard pixel protocols which are effectively self-addressing, DMX512 pixel protocols often require each pixel to be given an address, similar to a traditional DMX fixture. This is usually pre-set at the factory in the pixels themselves, by using an addressing tool, external to PixLite.

DMX512 Chips
There are many pixel chips that use a single-wire DMX512 protocol as the data source. Known examples of these are listed below, including each chip's supported speed. This is useful to know when configuring your PixLite Mk3 controller, which supports a wide speed range of 100 - 2500 kbps.
